2020 has certainly been an unusual year with many unforeseen shifts and challenges. Looking back, Earth Frequency Festival was very lucky this year – we were able to deliver the 15th edition of the festival just a few weeks before the shutdown of the entertainment and festival industry across Australia due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Earth Frequency has taken place mid-February every year for the past 15 years, and our usual plan would be for the festival to take place once again in February 2021. However, in these unusual times there is less certainty and we are taking a more flexible approach to planning the festival and the timeline leading up to it.
It takes many months to organise an event of this scale, and so the EFF team have begun work on planning our 2021 event and building all the creative momentum towards our initially planned dates – February 12th-15th 2021. We are working in cooperation with QLD Health, Ipswich City Council and Ivory’s Rock, and it is hoped that by February 2021 restrictions will have been eased to the point that it is possible to deliver a safe and compliant festival as usual. Community safety is at the top of our priorities, and the festival will only go ahead with the full support of QLD Health for our Covid-Safe Plan and if the overall national public health conditions are suitable.
We expect to know with certainty whether it is possible to proceed with the festival by mid-January, and we will keep everyone posted via our social media, relevant community groups and announcement channels. If it is not deemed safe or practical to deliver the festival on our initially planned dates – a postponement decision will be made, and new dates will be announced for later in the year.
